A ‘Csont és ízület évtizede’ szakmai kihívásai és eredményei

Aktivitásuk eredményeképpen Kofi Annan, az ENSZ főtitkára a 2000-2010 közti évtizedet a „Csont és Ízület Évtizedének” nyilvánította [1,2].

Abstract:

The group of musculoskeletal diseases is the most expensive patients’ group, using about one quarter of all healthcare budget. These diseases are the most frequent causes of serious pain and deficiency as well, and every fourth adult is suffering from this kind of disease. In the following decades parallel to the growing number of elderly in the society its social and private burden will increase significantly. This will be extremely dramatic in the developing countries. Because of all the above facts, in April of 1998 on an international meeting Lars Lindgren orthopaedist professor of Sweden’s Lund University proposed to devote the following decade to musculoskeletal diseases – according to the very successful Decade of Brain. As a result of this proposal, Kofi Annan secretary-general of U.N. declared decade 2000-2010 the „The Bone and Joint Decade” [1,2].
